Grant Writing

I have written over 20 large grants and several small grants with a 98% funding average. The total amount of grant awards I have received is over $5.3 million with the largest single grant award being $1.2 million.

I have presented day-long grant writing workshops for the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) as a service to their members. I have also presented Grant Writing techniques for the classroom teacher at several national and state conferences including Georgia Science Teachers Association (GSTA) and for the Georgia Association for Career & Technical Education (GACTE). These workshops focused around grant writing for $10,000 or less for the classroom teacher.

Also popular is a grant writing workshop I conduct which is two hours. For the first hour, I go through basic grant writing techniques, vocabulary and a long list of organizations that provide grants to teachers. For the second hour, I am on hand to work individually with the teachers as they work on live grant applications. They are able to ask questions as they have them. I could easily adapt this workshop to three hours to include two or even more hours of individualized help for the teachers as they are actively writing.

Most of the large grants I have written were Math Science Partnership Grants (MSP) funded through the Georgia Department of Education. These grant applications mirrored National Science Foundation (NSF) grants. Most large grants are over 100 pages once completed and require a mid-year report which typically is about 35 pages. Similarly, an independent grant evaluator works with me to analyze the effectiveness of the grant and reports data back to the state or grant organization. These large grants require many hours of data analysis, mid year report preparation and final report preparation in addition to hours spent organizing hundreds of teachers or personnel with budget items to include contracted services, supplies, books, stipends, sub pay etc. in the educational sector.

Contact me if I can conduct a workshop for your district office (on small or large grants), teachers, or if you have an interest in my writing a grant for you.
